How We Use AI in Your Consultation

A clear explanation of how artificial intelligence supports our doctors — and what it doesn't do.

What we use AI for

Our doctors use a clinical AI assistant (Lyrebird Health or Heidi) to help with note-taking during your consultation. The tool listens to the conversation and produces a draft set of notes that the doctor then reviews, edits, and saves into your medical record.

The benefit is simple: your doctor can give you their full attention instead of typing while you talk.

What we don't use AI for

  • We do not use AI to diagnose you. All clinical decisions are made by your doctor.
  • AI does not replace clinical judgement — it's an administrative tool, similar to a digital scribe.
  • AI does not contact you, prescribe for you, or interpret your test results.

Your privacy

We take your privacy seriously. Our use of clinical AI complies with the Australian Privacy Principles, the Privacy Act 1988, and RACGP guidance on AI in general practice.

  • The AI tool we use is purpose-built for Australian general practice and meets local healthcare data standards.
  • Audio is processed securely and is not retained beyond the time needed to generate the consultation notes.
  • Your medical record stays in our clinical software, accessible only to your treating clinicians.

Your consent

Before any AI-assisted note-taking is used in your consultation, your doctor will let you know and ask for your consent.

You can decline at any time — your care will not be affected. If you'd prefer your doctor take notes the traditional way, just say so.
